Library Media Center Home

The mission of our library is to provide a welcoming environment with a diverse collection of materials, cultivate a school environment that celebrates reading, and collaborate with teachers to plan effectively. The library media center collection supports the school’s curriculum which is based on the Alabama Course of Study.
The library media center operates on a flexible schedule. It is open each day from 7:45 am to 2:15 pm. First and Second Grade students are welcome to visit the library each day for check-out. Flexible scheduling allows the use of the library at the point of need by individuals, groups, and /or classes. They may come individually or with their class.
In addition, all Pre-K and Kindergarten classes are scheduled for story-time once a week. I help our youngest students develop positive associations with reading and libraries. First and Second Grade classes come to the library for lessons once a month. During these lessons, I expose students to different authors and book genres.  I also incorporate reading comprehension skills, such as main idea and context clues. With all classes, I guide students to find examples of the 7 Habits of The Leader in Me within the library books we are reading.
