About Us

Westside Elementary School, one of two elementary schools in the city, is located in the western portion of Demopolis. The school is approximately three miles from Highway 80 and within a few miles of the local hospital. Westside currently houses Pre K- 2nd grade with current enrollment at 530 students. 
Westside's  classrooms are organized in self-contained units. Our  faculty consist of 39 core teachers, all being highly qualified. There are 36 core teachers, 3 special education teachers and 6 Aides. The student body represents a variety of socio-economic levels. The strongest indicator is the system wide population of 76% free and reduced price meals.

October 2nd is the Notification Deadline for DCSS Virtual Students to Transition Back to On-Campus Learning

The Demopolis City School Board and School System Administrators are modifying the timeframe for virtual students to transition back to on-campus learning. The original date of January 4th is now October 19th for virtual students who wish to return to on-campus instruction. Parents who are interested in this transition must complete the Re-entry form and submit it to the applicable school(s) by Friday October, 2nd at 3:00 PM.

Students Eligible for Free Lunch are Eligible for Free Home Internet

Governor Kay Ivey has committed $100 million in Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act funding to deliver free internet access to eligible K-12 students in their homes this fall. The State of Alabama is using the funds to purchase internet service for low-income households with K-12 students so students can participate in distance learning. This service is being administered through the Alabama Broadband Connectivity for Students Program.

Complete this form and deliver it to Westside Elementary by Thursday, July 30, 2020. If you cannot download and print this form, then you may complete this form on campus at WES.
